Dear Editor:

The fact that the press, including your magazine ["World's Most Influential People," May 8], has appointed Jim Hansen, whose opinion is anything but objective, the savior of civilization shows just how unscientific the global warming debate has become. The media willfully ignores thousands of scientists who believe in global warming but do not believe its effects will be "catastrophic." The only global warming catastrophes are going to be bad public policies based on fear and panic rather than caution and science.

Sincerely,

Jay Lehr, Ph.D.
