Pennsylvania Charter Plan Treated Badly

Pennsylvania Charter Plan Treated Badly

After a group in the Souderton School District near Philadelphia spent thousands of hours crafting a charter school proposal, which attracted the interest of 100 potential students, they were denied the opportunity to review the school district’s extensive analysis of their proposal prior to the public hearing on their proposal. The school district also used up time at the public hearing to read its analysis line by line, causing parents and taxpayers who wanted to speak in support of the proposal to wait until nearly midnight.

“That sure doesn’t sound like due process,” commented Sean Duffy, vice-president of The Commonwealth Foundation.
