The Friedman Foundation

The Friedman Foundation
September 1, 1998

One of the key aims of the Friedman Foundation, established in 1996, is to amplify the national call for education reform through parental choice. The Foundation’s benefactors, economists Milton and Rose Friedman, believe that allowing parents a free choice of schools for their children will improve children's education.

Moreover, they contend, parental choice would lead to the ultimate separation of public financing of K-12 education from government administration of K-12 education. That would address the Friedmans’ deep concern about the serious deficiencies in existing government-run schools arising from increasing centralization and control by education bureaucrats.
