Lieberman at the Polls

Lieberman at the Polls
December 1, 2003

In the early October CNN poll, retired Gen. Wesley Clark led all contenders for the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination, with 21 percent of respondents saying they would most likely support Clark in 2004. That was down one point from the previous poll, taken in September.

Clark was followed by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, with 16 percent; Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, 13 percent; Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, also 13 percent; and Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt, 8 percent.

Four hundred Democrat or Democrat-leaning registered voters were polled by telephone and asked which candidate they were most likely to support for the party’s 2004 nomination. The poll had a margin of error of plus-or-minus 5 percentage points.
